28 La Pausa is another release from Chanel’s Les Exclusifs line. Like 31 Rue Cambon, 28 La Pausa is graceful and orchestrated with Chanel’s mannerly balance. It’s also a more coherent structure and fewer notes. It’s often described as the perfect iris.

(Iris from Alice in Wonderland)
But it does an interesting trick. At first you think it’s 75% iris and 25% vetiver, the two notes mentioned in The Book. But towards the heart it gets more complicated. The iris and vetiver don’t go away, but it begins to smell more aldehydic. Once I even detected some galbanum and civet: sort of like a green version of Joy. The drydown is a soft and less descript floral, a little like Chamade.
Olfactoria is right though: it doesn’t last very long. Nonethelss, if you don’t mind reapplying often, it’s a more natural albeit less exciting alternative to Iris Silver Mist.
